Training

A summary of our regular training groups

The club organises two regular training sessions a week:
Monday evening
Wednesday evening

We use Richmond Park all year round (except when the park is shut for culling etc). Running at night in the winter is possible as there is enough light to safely run along the park roads which are of course closed to traffic then. Alternative arrangements will be posted on this site when applicable.

This session is a social run where runners generally run in a group of their own ability. The runs are normally between 3.5 and 7.5 miles. Newcomers are welcome and will be asked on arrival on what they think their capabilities are, and one of the regular runners will be designated to keep an eye on that runner. A club runner will always be present at the back of the group to ensure that nobody gets lost or left behind.

Wednesday evenings are organised with a more structured approach, we have a coached running session in Richmond Park. Training is usually led by one of the club UKA qualified coaches and is aimed at building speed and strength whilst being inclusive for runners of all abilities. On seven Wednesday evenings during the summer months, our Wednesday evenings are moved to the track at Barn Elms and the session is led again by club coaches.
