Sheen Shufflers was founded in 1986 by Bob Reed and Georgina Dumler to provide a running club in SW London as an alternative to
other local clubs.
The club now has around 40-50 paid up members, some have been members since the club was started, others have joined in the
last year. Most are active and participate in training sessions or races. A typical Monday
or Wednesday club night has 15-30 runners of different running experiences, speeds and training goals.
Except when the Richmond Park is closed for the culling,
all runs take place within the park, on the roads during the winter and multi-terrain during the summer.
The club has some very talented runners and those who have been brought on a long way by club coaching sessions
in the last few years. The Shufflers won the Thames Valley cross-country league during the winter season of 2000/01 beating
a dozen clubs most of whom have many more members to call on and has finished consistently in the top four places in 2001-2006.
In the 2006 London marathon the Shufflers had three runners recording
sub 3:30.
However the club is not all about elite runners, competition and performance. It has members who started their running with us, or picked up again
after long periods of absence, or those who simply run for fun and fitness. In a small friendly club there is a chance to know everyone
and learn from other members.
